Hatian American Public Health Initiative
Haitian-American Public Health Initiatives, Inc. (HAPHI) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization founded in April 1989 by a group of Haitian-American health care professionals. HAPHI seeks to bridge the gap in health education and services available to Haitian residents. The Haitian Family Support Program is specifically for people with disabilities and their families.

The vision of the project is to create an interactive portal for the community of people with physical and intellectual disabilities and evolve it into an organic, empowered, growing and self-sustaining ecosystem. "We believe in fighting with the problem right at the root, so we start from the stage where the woman conceives the child. Through Svayam, a parent can access the information about the symptoms, causes, early interventions in pre-, peri- and postnatal stages. The parent can also get information about various curative and assistive technologies and treatments, education, rehabilitation, vocational training and future employment for their child."

Thousands of the best disability resources on the Internet, personally selected and annotated by the staff of Disability Resources Monthly and alphabetically arranged by subject for easy access.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center
This page is filled with parent resources on a national level for children with disabilities.

Beach Center on Family and Disability
Provides links for families, educators, and community members as well as parent support groups. A good resource for published materials for both families and practitioners.

Children with Disabilities
provides links to federal, state, local and national resources on topics covering advocacy, education, employment, health, housing, recreation, technical assistance and transportation.

Family Village
Provides Internet resources for individuals with cognitive or other disabilities and their families with discussion boards and links for purchasing specialized products. This site is very user-friendly for new Internet users.

Internet Resources for Special Children (IRSC)
provides a comprehensive list of Internet links with an emphasis on specific disabilities to parents, educators, and medical professionals.

The Federation for Children with Special Needs
provides support and resources to families, professionals and their communities. They cover educational issues for students with special needs including publications, workshops, and legislative updates.

Kids Needs- The Place for Kids with Special Needs
A resource for information about disabilities, which are categorized by type of disability. This information is geared to children, caregivers and families.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities
A national information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families and professionals. Includes info on summer camps and state-by-state agencies serving individuals with disabilities. Information is available in Spanish.
